Advocacy

Advocacy

An important function of the Covington Chamber of Commerce is advocacy to give our business community a voice. We work with coalitions, committees and our legislators to advocate for funding and for support on important projects that impact our region. If you are interested in learning more or want to join one of the committees or coalitions, please contact us at info@covingtonchamber.org.

Government Affairs Committee

  • George Frasier, Green River College and Green River College Foundation
  • Sam Pace, Seattle-King County Realtors
  • Jeff Wagner, Republic Services

South Sound Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition (SSCCLC)

The Covington Chamber of Commerce is a member of the SSCCLC, giving the Covington Chamber of Commerce a voice on legislative matters that affect the South Sound region. The board has appointed the following members to serve on the coalition to represent our interests:
  • Kathy Fosjord
  • George Frasier, Green River College Foundation and Green River College Foundation
  • Jeff Wagner, Republic Services

SEAL-TC

SEAL-TC is comprised of a group of regional stakeholders who advocate for funding for the widening of Highway 18 near I-90 East, one of the deadliest stretches of highway in the state and the nation. The group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss progress toward our objectives, assign tasks and strategize.
  • Jeff Wagner, Republic Services
  • Regan Bolli, City of Covington

Staff Representation

In addition to the coalition and committee members listed, executive director Dana Neuts serves as the staff representative for each of these groups. She regularly attends legislative update meetings with the Association of Washington Business, AWB’s Grass Roots Alliance, WCCE and SSCCLC, and she now serves as the facilitator for SEAL-TC.
