Serving on the Board of Directors
Per our bylaws, directors on the Covington Chamber board serve two-year terms with a three-term limit for consecutive terms. Some exceptions apply. For example, if someone is appointed to the board to fill a vacant seat, they will complete the previous director's term and must run for election in the next cycle. The board must include either seven voting members or nine voting members. A simple majority is required for a quorum.
Also, board chairs serve a one-year term and may choose to serve two one-year terms before automatically moving to the past board chair, is a non-voting position. The City of Covington appoints a director to fill a seat on the board, which is also a non-voting position. For more on the bylaws and how they govern board service, visit our bylaws page.
The Board of Directors meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of each month via Zoom except for December. The board holds an annual planning session in the fall to discuss the year ahead, set goals for the year, and review the budget.
