The Voice of BusinessOne of our key roles at the Covington Chamber of Commerce is to advocate on behalf of our members by focusing on issues that are important to them and their economic vitality and sustainability. We do this by establishing and maintaining relationships with influencers at all levels of government, listening to our members' needs and concerns, and being a collective voice for the business community.
To be effective in this role, the Covington Chamber is a member of several key membership organizations and coalitions, including:
We participate in roundtable discussions, regular meetings, conferences, and special events like AWB's annual Hill Climb to stay up-to-date on issues that may affect our businesses. We also meet with our 47th District legislators and testify in Olympia on behalf of our businesses. We are fortunate to have a close relationship with the City of Covington (Washington), and we meet with them often to learn what is happening in the city and how it will affect our businesses as well as our residents. During election season at the state and local levels, we host candidate forums and candidate open houses, so our businesses and communities have an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their positions on various topics. In addition to our CEO's role in these activities, our Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee help support the Covington Chamber's advocacy efforts. In 2026, our GAC was particularly active, attending webinars, attending meetings with legislators, and sharing the impacts of new legislation on their businesses and organizations. We welcome feedback from our businesses and encourage an open dialogue to ensure the continued success of our business community. |
